Sculpture in art deco style made in France in the first decades of the twentieth century by the French sculptor J. Dauvergne, as indicated by the legible signature on the onyx base on which is set the figure of Diana. The goddess of the hunt is caught in plastic pose as she is about to throw her spear against two fleeing antelopes placed a few steps ahead of her; both the momentum of Diana’s body and the pair of animals, caught while jumping forward, give remarkable dynamism to the sculptural complex, which in addition to the flat base is completed with an emerging polyhedral surface and different material than the one below. The different colors of the base, the dynamic plasticity and the processing of bronze, patinated and silver, give preciousness and variety to the work, which demonstrates the taste of the period and style in using new and different techniques and materials, Cleverly integrated and united in a single work despite their heterogeneity.
