The canvas in question is an example of vedutist painting at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, attentive both to the real data, to the architectural and landscape aspect, and to the narrative one.

A landscape is painted along the course of a placid river. The painter’s hand skilfully delineates the curves of the river surrounded by a flourishing hilly landscape. The buildings and the small villages fade in the distance gently leaving the imagination open towards what is not seen.

In the foreground the focus is on human data with the representation of some boats on shore and characters at rest and work in brightly colored clothes.

A fascinating view for the mixture of all these elements surrounded by a sweet atmosphere and a soft, timeless brightness, in which the real data is intertwined with fantasy.
