The painting under consideration here represents a great glimpse of an agreste view referring to the years following the second half of the seventeenth century and in particular to the Veneto area.The central part of the composition is dominated by a hill with a tower surrounded by shrubs of various heights, probably the home of a gentleman who owns the neighbouring land. Going down the hill, we can see a short stretch of dirt road, at the end of which we see a couple of characters one on the ground and the other standing, flanked by a small brick building. The two are on the banks of a small river, which the artist also describes the ripples through slight and thin luminities, that runs through the landscape and occupies the lower part of the painting, in which dominates the thick cube forest. In the foreground, on the right, a long tree trunk whose sections twist together until the height of the fronds. This element allows the painter to create a continuity with the background of the sky and the rest of the scenery: always on the right, next to the central massif, there is another high rise with a tower and a small house from which the smoke of the lit fireplace comes out, That, thanks to the contrast with the mountain of bluish tones with more force, without getting lost in the horizon. The same solution is adopted for the left side of the canvas, where a village on the plain rendered in very clear tones stands out strongly from the great mountain that overlooks it. In the vast sky dominated by a cloud pile that is passing exactly above the central massif, the tones of color already used by the artist for the other elements of the composition are taken up, which allows to harmonize with wisdom the whole view.
